Directs all aspects of the Business Unit. Manages the manufacturing and engineering initiatives for YAG crystal growth, fabrication, coating, and facilities groups. Provides leadership for new product development, production operations, yield and process improvement, employee motivation, quality assurance of product, and cost reduction activities. Responsible for staffing, training, developing leaders and supervisors, developing cohesive work teams, motivating work teams, and effectively implementing company human resource policies and procedures. Directs the development and implementation of business plans, budgets, goals, growth plans, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsible for the results of the business unit. Responsible for meeting the requirements of related government R&D contracts. Responsible for interacting with sales and marketing to promote and grow the product line. Participates as a key member of he VLOC management team to set goals and direction for the organization.
